How to fix the issue of not being able to turn off “Find My iPhone”?

To enable/disable Full Mode, please turn off the “Find My iPhone” option on your device. You can try the following methods when you can’t turn it off.

1. Check your network connection

To turn off “Find My iPhone”, the device should connect to a valid Internet Connection. If your device cannot connect to the Internet, you won’t be able to disable this feature. Make sure your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data.

2. Enter the correct iCloud account password

You should enter the correct password for the iCloud account associated with the device when you try to turn off “Find My iPhone”. If you have forgotten the password, you can reset it by following these steps:

  • Open the “Settings” app and tap your name to enter the Apple ID page.
  • Select “Password & Security”.
  • Tap “Change Password” and follow the prompts to reset your password.

3. Check if “Lost Mode” is enabled

If your device is in “Lost Mode,” you won’t be able to turn off “Find My iPhone.” To exit “Lost Mode,” follow these steps:

  • Open the “Find My iPhone” app or visit the iCloud website.
  • Enter your Apple ID and password to log in.
  • Select your iPhone from the list of devices.
  • Tap “Lost Mode” and choose “Stop Lost Mode”.

4. Check if “Theft Protection” is enabled

If your device has “Theft Protection” enabled, you won’t be able to turn off “Find My iPhone.” To turn off “Theft Protection,” follow these steps:

  • Open the “Settings” app and go to “Face ID/ Touch ID & Passcode”.
  • Enter your device passcode to access the settings.
  • Find the “Theft Protection” option and turn it off.

5. Check for enterprise or school management profiles

If your device is managed by an enterprise or school, there might be Mobile Device Management (MDM) profiles that restrict turning off “Find My iPhone.” In this case, you need to contact your device administrator to remove the restriction.

6. Check family sharing settings

If you are part of a Family Sharing group and the family organizer has enabled location sharing, you might be unable to turn off “Find My iPhone.” You can try the following steps:

  • Open the “Settings” app and tap your name to enter the Apple ID page.
  • Select “Family Sharing.
  • Choose “Location Sharing” and then turn off location sharing.

7. Restart your device

Sometimes, system glitches might prevent you from turning off “Find My iPhone.” You can try restarting your device:

  • Press and hold the power button until the “slide to power off” option appears.
  • Slide to turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the power button again until the Apple logo appears, and the device restarts.

8. Contact Apple support

If none of the above methods work, it is recommended to contact Apple Support for assistance. You can reach Apple Support in the following ways:

  • Open the “Settings” app and tap “Help & Support”.
  • Visit the Apple Support website: https://support.apple.com
  • Call the Apple Support hotline.

Note

After enabling Full Mode, you can turn “Find My iPhone” back on.
